Sean founded Sean Bailey Design in 2019 and is a licensed architect with over twenty years of experience in architecture and design throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Prior to establishing the firm, he worked with award-winning practices including Fougeron Architecture, Pfau Long Architecture, and Zimmerman and Associates, and collaborated with IDEO and other leading design firms across a range of project types and scales.
Sean’s diligent and highly collaborative approach has earned the trust of clients, consultants, contractors, and local decision-makers. He is known for his commitment to high-quality and timeless design, listening carefully to clients and collaborators, navigating complex stakeholder interests with integrity, and remaining personally engaged from early design through construction. Sean brings a balance of design ambition and grounded strategies informed by budget-consciousness and thoughtful constructability that were ingrained from a young age when he learned the craft of building while working for his father’s construction company in the mountains of Colorado.
A devoted husband and father of two daughters, Sean’s commitment to family and community informs his belief that architecture should enrich daily life, strengthen connections, and contribute meaningfully to its place.
Sean Bailey_Principal and Founder
Tye is a licensed architect with more than fifteen years of experience leading complex and innovative projects across the West Coast. His work spans custom residential, multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, and workplace design, including roles at award-winning practices LEVER Architecture, GBD Architects, and Bates Smart in Australia. Among his notable accomplishments, Tye led the first permitted and completed mass timber building in the City of Los Angeles, reflecting his interest in how structure, natural materials, and thoughtful design can strengthen architecture’s connection to landscape and place.
At Sean Bailey Design, Tye helps lead many of the firm’s largest and most ambitious residences, bringing clarity, adaptability, and careful coordination to complex projects. Thorough, personable, and detail oriented, he values a collaborative process that allows ideas to evolve while maintaining focus on the client’s vision. Tye grew up in the mountains of Colorado alongside his cousin Sean, spending formative years working at his father’s home-building business and mother’s local bakery. That experience, together with his life as a husband and father of two daughters, continues to shape his belief that architecture should enrich daily life, strengthen personal connections, and feel deeply rooted in its natural setting.

Devon Anderson is a licensed architect with over 15 years of experience and has worked in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and California. Drawing inspiration from stunning natural environments has profoundly influenced Devon's architectural design philosophy. Devon specializes in highly creative designs blending architecture and landscape to craft thoughtful, timeless designs across various disciplines including residential, mixed-use, commercial, entertainment, and civic projects. Raised in Southcentral Alaska, Devon's passion for architecture was ignited by his mother, a professor of art, and his grandfather, who built remote cabins in the Alaskan wilderness.

Meaghan is a licensed architect, Senior Project Architect and Technical Lead with more than twenty years of experience delivering complex commercial and high-end residential projects. Prior to joining Sean Bailey Design, she held senior roles at Dumican Mosey Architects, John Maniscalco Architecture, and Perkins&Will / Pfau Long Architecture. Her experience spans project management, technical documentation, consultant coordination, permitting, and construction administration.
Meaghan brings deep technical knowledge and a careful understanding of how design intent is carried through detailing and construction. She is skilled at anticipating challenges, coordinating complex project requirements, and developing clear, thorough documentation. Equally important, Meaghan is a personable and generous collaborator who builds strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and colleagues throughout the project process.

Jay is a Project Architect and California-licensed architect who brings decades of experience to the firm and the projects he leads. He guides a thoughtful process that helps clients explore, prioritize, and refine their vision, drawing on his deep knowledge of architectural technology to identify clear, creative, and well-resolved design solutions.
Collaborative and highly experienced in Bay Area custom residential work, Jay works closely with builders and consultants to align design intent with technical execution. His approach has fostered lasting professional relationships with clients, contractors, and industry partners throughout the region. He values architecture shaped by natural light, elegant and cost-conscious detailing, and a graceful connection to the site and its broader context.

Hannah is a Senior Job Captain who brings exceptional efficiency, organization, and focus to the production of complex residential projects. She excels at translating design concepts into clear, coordinated drawing sets and moving projects forward with accuracy and momentum. Her strong command of documentation, consultant coordination, and project workflows makes her an essential member of the team from design development through construction.
Hannah combines close attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented approach. She anticipates coordination needs, works through technical challenges thoughtfully, and maintains a clear understanding of both immediate tasks and broader project goals. Personable, responsive, and highly dependable, Hannah is a collaborative teammate who helps architects, consultants, and contractors work effectively toward a shared design vision.

Kim is an accomplished designer with more than a decade of experience creating refined, highly personal interior environments. Prior to joining SBD, she held senior design roles at several leading Bay Area interiors studios, developing a strong command of space planning, materiality, custom furnishings, and the detailed coordination required to realize sophisticated interiors.
Kim brings a thoughtful, intuitive approach grounded in how people experience and inhabit space. Her background in occupational therapy further informs her sensitivity to comfort, function, and individual needs. Collaborative, attentive, and deeply engaged in the design process, she creates cohesive homes where architecture, landscape, furnishings, and daily life are considered as one integrated experience.
Kim Chau_Interior Designer
Logan is a licensed architect in California and Oregon with more than ten years of experience at firms including LSW Architects, LEVER Architecture and GBD Architects. His work spans varied project types and scales, with a focus on thoughtful design, technical coordination, and sustainable performance.
As a Project Architect, Logan brings a collaborative approach to guiding projects from design through construction. A Certified Passive House Consultant, he is interested in the relationship between architecture, environmental responsibility, and human experience. He values clear communication and close collaboration with clients, consultants, and builders to create enduring architecture rooted in its place.

James is a licensed architect who takes a people-first approach to architecture, grounded in the understanding that strong communication and relationships are fundamental to successful projects. At Sean Bailey Design, he thrives on bringing project teams together, aligning them toward a common goal and carrying a shared vision from design through construction.
As a third-generation Architect, following both his father and his grandfather into the profession, he grew up with an appreciation for design and curiosity about how buildings come together. That early exposure continues to shape the way he approaches complex residential projects, balancing design intent with constructability.
When he isn't at work, James can be found outside skiing, biking, backpacking or chasing whatever his latest obsession may be.
James Chrisman_Senior Job Captain
Grant is a talented architectural designer and Job Captain who contributes across many aspects of the studio’s work, from conceptual design and visualization to documentation, material research, and project coordination. A graduate of UC Berkeley’s architecture program with a minor in sustainable design, he brings curiosity, strong design instincts, and a thoughtful approach to realizing ambitious residential projects.
Exceptionally kind, professional, and dependable, Grant approaches each assignment with care, diligence, and a willingness to support the broader team both in office and on the jobsite. His discipline, composure, and collaborative leadership were shaped in part by four years as a Division I coxswain for UC Berkeley’s nationally recognized rowing program. He brings that same focus, preparation, and commitment to the studio, helping projects, teams, and spaces realize their fullest potential.
